2 questions for Feng Shui enthusiasts.?

1. My son's incredibly messy bedroom and our never-really-organized office inhabit the career centers of our home. Short of cleaning them up (the obvious) what can be done to enhance the career areas of our lives? 2. Last year we installed a fence around our backyard. As our house sits on the edge of a mountain, we had to stair-step our fence away from our house -- anathema to the financial equilibrium of the household. And, anecdotally, we have had the worst financial year since our early years of marriage. What can we do to counteract the effect of the fence (money flowing away from the house) without removing the fence?

i have been studying chinese fengshui, not the ones found in books, which i think you're talking about regarding the career centers.
there is a formula regarding how to make your kids attentive in schools, but it differs from case to case, and has no general rules. meaning you need to get a fengshui auditor/ master to do it for you.
next, your description is quite vague. fengshui is about accuracy, meaning we need measurements, at least a clear picture of where is the mountain in relation to your house, and how many degrees (in the 360 degrees- NSEW) is it when you stand in your house with the main door in front of you. do you even see the mountain when you're inside the house? fengshui is about proper measurement and proper application. and a fence cannot blow away your money! if this is true, then rich people won't have fences.

Re question no 1, cleaning of cluttter is very important and by your question, you already know this is the case, so I definitely recommend that you do this but with correct intention also. Do the cleaning with the intentions of enhancing your career and/or study for your sons.
very generic suggestion can be given to you to improve however one would need to know the area or sector that your office is in. If your house faces South for e.g. and the office is in the rear, then it could be in the North sector.
I would give recommendations not based just on the location but also on what energy is there this year. So happy to help if you can respond as to what sector this room is in.
Re question no 2, If you already had a mountain aside the house and the fence is re-inforcing this, I would think that it may not be the fence but the changing of energies that may have occurred, which change on a yearly basis.
Again it would help to know which sector say your entrance is in and other important entry/exit points of the house. Up to Feb 2007 the main negative yearly energies are in the West and South East sectors, again this is quite generic as a proper feng shui analysis requires an accurate compass reading of the property along with the year it was built, renovated etc. This analysis provides a very specific chart for your property and your property alone, like an astrology chart for a person. Happy to help further....wishing you good luck and happiness.

My bathroom is in my relationship feng shui corner. How can I fix any ill effects?

Just moved to a new apt. that I had no real control over. According to the feng shui bagua, my bathroom occupies the relationship/love/marriage corner. I need some chi adjustment ideas because I'm getting married in March and my fiance will move into this apartment. My last apt. had the bed in this corner and hey - we got engaged while I was living there (but my bathroom occupied the helpful people section and I was very lonely while living there.

you're basing your life in a book? and it is about black hat fengshui, which is the lamest! think about this, if all apartments were done like yours, then does it mean that the people living in them are damned?
i always believe that you don't have to fix something that is not broken.
you can only do chi adjustment if you calculate for your chi distribution/ flying star theory based on the degree/ facing of your door.
regarding your relationship, you can move your bedroom toward your favorable location, and/ or move your bed to face your bed (meaning when lying down your feet must point) towards your love/ romance direction. (8 mansions theory based on your birthdate)
